SECURE CONNECTION ESTABLISHED...
DECENTRALIZED. OFF-GRID. ENCRYPTED.
Definition: Meshtastic is an open-source project that uses inexpensive LoRa (Long Range) radios to create a mesh network for your group. It enables off-grid communication without cell towers or the internet.
The Vibe: Think of it as a long-range, text-based Walkie-Talkie system that hops messages from person to person to extend reach. It connects to your phone via Bluetooth so you can use a slick app interface instead of a clunky radio screen.
In a mesh, there is no central server. Every user is a repeater. If you can't reach the destination directly, your message hops through other users.
*Simulation: Green node is Sender. Click 'Transmit' to see the message hop through the grey repeater nodes.
You cannot install this on a standard phone alone. You need a "node"—a small radio board. Your phone controls the node via Bluetooth.
BEST ALL-ROUNDER
Built-in GPS and battery holder. The standard "brick" for most users.
COMPACT / CHEAP
Smaller, cheaper, but needs a separate battery connector. Great for pocket cases.
LOW POWER KING
Modular, extremely energy efficient. Good for solar-powered repeaters high up in trees.
Meshtastic is not a magic internet replacement. It adheres to the laws of physics.
